NASA Coverage of the Impact of the DART Spacecraft

Monday, September 26, 2022 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Free

Join us as we live stream NASA’s coverage of the impact of the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft with Dimorphos, the “asteroid moonlet” of Didymos!

This will be the first-ever test of the planetary defense strategy of asteroid deflection using the kinetic impact technique.

NASA’s live feed will begin at 4:30 p.m., the planetarium doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the impact will occur at approximately 6:14 p.m. The post-impact press briefing will begin at 7 p.m., and the planetarium doors will close at 7:30 p.m.

During the live stream, Dr. Kenneth Carrell, director of the ASU Planetarium, and other planetarium staff will be available to talk about the mission and answer questions.
