One Millionth Patron enters North Doors

June 06, 2016

This morning, as the Library opened for the start of Summer I, we celebrated a milestone marking the number of patrons who have come through our doors.

January 10, 2011 marked the opening of what is now the main entrance to the Porter Henderson Library, located on the north side of the building. Prior to this, the original entrance was a doorway near the Common Grounds. The new North Entrance was part of a major remodel that took place in 2010 and transformed the First Floor of the Library into a Learning Commons.

June 6, 2016 a significant event occurred at the North Entrance. As we opened the doors this morning, Dr. Maurice Fortin (Library Director) greeted visitor Alexis Segura – Sanders with the notification that she was the one millionth person to enter the Library through that entrance since its opening in 2011. Much to her surprise, Ms. Segura – Sanders was presented with a gift card and certificate commemorating the occasion.

We can’t wait to see how many more will have come through those doors in another five years.
