Students Take Part in 2018 ESMOAS Conference

The theme of this year’s conference was “International Relations and the Future of the Global Community.” Representing the countries of Chile and Grenada, the ASU students debated resolutions, practiced diplomacy and participated in crises scenarios.

The ASU students are all enrolled in POLS 3348: Model Organization of American States” taught by Dr. Matthew Gritter. Their trip to the ESMOAS Conference was financially supported by the Office of the Dean of Arts and Humanities. ASU students attending the conference were:

The ESMOAS is an academically-centered program that brings together the nation’s best and brightest college students to debate the issues facing the nations in North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Formed in 1948, the OAS was established to achieve an order of peace and justice among its member states, promote their solidarity, strengthen their collaboration, and defend their sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. Its membership consists of all 35 independent states of the Americas.
