Chadd Brown, Distinguished Young Alumnus

A San Angelo native and third-generation ASU alum, Brown oversees all area operations for the San Angelo terminal of Northwest Logistics, a nationwide dry bulk hauling and storage company. When the local terminal opened in 2014, Brown was the first employee and has since built it into a fleet of over 100 big-rig drivers. He is quick to credit ASU’s influence in his early career success.

“My professors gave me real-world experiences in class that I was able to use immediately out of college,” Brown said. “I gained a wealth of knowledge in everything from dinner etiquette to EBITDA statements. ASU’s well-rounded
curriculum put me in position to achieve my career goals.”

While attending ASU, Brown worked full time at Vehicle Accessories. After earning his Bachelor of Business Administration in 2006, he went to work as manager of Fastenal Co., where he stayed for five years before spending three years as operations manager for T&C Wholesale and then taking on the challenge of building the new Northwest Logistics terminal.

But it’s not all about work for Brown. He and his wife, Shelby, recently joined YoungLife, a Christian ministry program for local secondary schools, and along with their sons, Brody and Daxtyn, are active at Holy Angels church. They also like to play Santa Claus.

“We have a close group of friends that get together around Christmas and adopt a less fortunate family with kids,” Brown said. “We try to make the kids’ Christmas a little special by donating gifts to the family.”

For his immediate and ongoing career and life achievements, the ASU Alumni Association has named Brown its 2019 Distinguished Young Alumnus.

“I’m completely humbled and honored to be recognized among the distinguished alumni from Angelo State,” Brown said. “I would never have imagined being part of this tremendous group. I’m truly grateful for this honor and to ASU for giving me the opportunity to become a better version of myself.”
