April 29, 2020

As announced on April 20, Angelo State University received $6,359,561 in federal CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act funds. The CARES Act provides funding for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19.

One-half of the funds, or $3,179,781, is designated as the minimum allocation to be awarded for emergency financial aid grants to students.

“We emailed our application for emergency grant funds to currently enrolled students on April 23, and more than 1,200 students have submitted their requests for the spring semester,” said Angie Wright, Interim President. “At this time, more than 700 students have been approved to receive funds. We will release applications related to the summer terms in June and July.”

The CARES Act emergency financial aid grants for students are intended for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19 in specific areas:

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Angelo State moved all classes online on March 23 and will continue to deliver classes online through the second summer term.

“Many of our students have experienced unexpected hardships because of COVID-19, and we are thankful that these funds have been made available to our students by our nation’s leaders,” Wright said.
