Angelo State University’s annual Foreign Language Competition for students representing local and regional junior high and high schools will make its return in a virtual format in January 2022, and advance registration for contestants will be open Oct. 15-31.
The theme for the 2022 competition is “Foreign Languages Take You Places.” Student contests will run Jan. 5-15 and will be administered virtually through ASU’s Blackboard online course delivery system.
Advance registration is required, and late applications will not be accepted. For more details and to register, go online to angelo.edu/foreign-language-competition.
Students will compete in French, German and/or Spanish contests in four categories:
- Poetry recitations
- Extemporaneous speaking
- Reading of prose selections
- Computer-assisted listening and reading comprehension
Each of the participating schools will also submit a short film and a poster based on the competition theme. These will also be judged as part of the overall competition, and they must be submitted via Blackboard by Jan. 15.
All contests will be judged by ASU faculty and advanced language students.
