OASIS Editorial Staff members will not be allowed to submit their work to OASIS.

Application Requirements

  1. At least 30 hours earned toward your degree plan
  2. An overall 3.0 G.P.A.
  3. Full time enrollment at ASU for a minimum of two consecutive semesters

The OASIS is an annual magazine of student art and literature selected and edited by a staff of student editors appointed by an editorial board of faculty and students.

Position Descriptions

  1. General Editor:  Will provide leadership and management of production, including extending call for submissions, leading staff meetings, working with Editorial Board, consulting with faculty advising on budget issues, and providing assistance where necessary, particularly in final judgments related to selection of submissions and design.
  2. Literary Editor:  Will lead the solicitation and selection of literary submissions.
  3. Art Editor:  Will lead the solicitation and selection of art submissions.
  4. Layout and Design Editor: Will lead the process of text and image layout in response to overall design of magazine and printer demands.
  5. Author Biography Editor: Will lead the solicitation and editing of selected authors’ biographies.
  6. Additional positions may be added as needed, such as any assistant editor positions.


The student editors apply and are appointed in fall of each year and begin their work at the beginning of the spring term with the publication of the magazine scheduled for mid-April. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. The magazine will be published in both print and online format.


While all positions for OASIS staff provide students with valuable experiences in publishing and teamwork, these positions are voluntary and unpaid.


Application Materials

  1. A completed Student Employment Application form. Download the form after completion.
  2. A cover letter addressed to Dr. Musgrove and the OASIS Faculty Editorial Board, including an indication of the desired position(s) and the applicant’s relevant experience, skills, and interests.

All application materials must be submitted to Dr. Laurence Musgrove in the Department of English and Modern Languages as email attachments to by Friday, November 15, 2021.
