Kimberly and Nathanial Turney were referred to the ASU SBDC when they shared their dream of opening a quality coffee shop in San Angelo with a close friend.
This referral led them to meet with Advisor Dezaray Johnson. This is where they began their journey. Johnson assisted the clients with learning the ropes of small business management, how to onboard employees, and all the things they would need to be successful.
With a lot of coffee and many late nights, they were finally ready to open in the summer of 2021. They offer a fresh take on coffee with a custom roast. Along with amazing coffee, they have a laid-back environment at the Bearded Barista that sets the tone for everything from a great coffee get together to a study group, business meeting, or even a late jam session with live music. Kimberly and Nathaniel have done an amazing job bringing the community together at this awesome one-of-a-kind coffee shop and plan to continue to serve the community for many years to come.
“The SBDC is a tremendous source of information, support, and encouragement to our small business community. They were instrumental in helping us prepare to open our business and they have continued to be an invaluable partner throughout our first year. If anyone is considering opening a new business or even expanding an existing one, your first call should be to the SBDC. They are an absolute treasure trove of knowledge and experience.”
