ASU Chorale & Director to Perform at Carnegie Hall

November 16, 2023

The Angelo State University Chorale and Dr. Eric Posada, director of choral activities, have been invited by Manhattan Concert Productions (MCP) to perform at the storied Carnegie Hall in New York City next spring.

Dr. Craig Arnold, founder and president of MCP, invited Posada to conduct the New York City Chamber Orchestra and a Festival Choir of singers from across the U.S. and other countries in their 2024 Masterwork Series concert on March 11, 2024, at Carnegie Hall. The ASU Chorale will sing a Spotlight Performance during the concert.

The repertoire for the concert will be “Sunrise Mass” by Ola Gjeilo, which was the subject of Posada’s doctoral dissertation at Texas Tech University.

Additionally, to represent Angelo State University, our music department and San Angelo is an honor for us all.”

The 48-member ASU Chorale comprises students from academic departments across campus. It includes the ASU Chamber Singers, a smaller ensemble that serves as the leadership core of the Chorale. Posada has served as director of choral activities since 2021. Select members of the San Angelo Chorus community choir, which is also directed by Posada, will perform with the ASU Chorale at Carnegie Hall.

The ASU Chorale is conducting various fundraising activities to help pay for the trip to New York. Anyone wishing to support their efforts can make a contribution online.

Now in its 23rd season, MCP welcomes choirs, bands and orchestras from throughout the U.S. and many other countries to collaborate with professional musicians and perform at prestigious venues around the world. MCP’s primary purpose is to provide participants with exceptional musical and cultural performance opportunities, while serving ensemble directors by producing events that enrich their performers and enhance their programs at home.
