Angelo State Maintains U.S. ‘College of Distinction’ Status
June 18, 2024
For the seventh straight year, Angelo State University has been named a national “College of Distinction” by the Colleges of Distinction print and online college guide that recognizes colleges and universities implementing best practices in higher education.
Angelo State is one of only 414 schools, representing 47 states, and one of only four Texas public universities to earn the national 2024-25 “College of Distinction” designation.
In addition to its national recognition, ASU earned the following designations for 2024-25:
- “Public College of Distinction”
- “Texas College of Distinction”
- “Affordability College of Distinction”
- “Military Support College of Distinction”
Schools are selected for the various designations for employing High-Impact Practices and demonstrating excellence in four key areas identified by Colleges of Distinction as the “Four Distinctions” – Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community and Successful Outcomes.
“Those four distinctions are echoed in Angelo State’s mission and vision statements and our Core Values,” said ASU President Ronnie Hawkins Jr. “To be nationally recognized for living up to the goals that we set for ourself as the Ram Family is truly gratifying, and it confirms that we are providing our students with the education and campus experiences they need for future success. Earning multiple ‘College of Distinction’ designations every year also raises our national profile and makes Angelo State an attractive destination for a wide variety of prospective student populations.”
ASU has also been recognized for three individual academic programs, being named a “Business College of Distinction,” “Education College of Distinction” and “Nursing College of Distinction.” These designations are based on accreditation, breadth of program and a track record for success.
“Angelo State University’s curriculum encourages meaningful student-faculty collaboration through experiential learning that is relevant and applicable to the real world,” said Tyson Schritter, COO at Colleges of Distinction. “We are so impressed to see how Angelo State brings life to the traditional undergraduate experience. With a welcoming community, an immersive curriculum, and strong support networks, ASU is undoubtedly nurturing the growth of tomorrow’s leaders.”
An in-depth profile of ASU will be published in the 2024-25 Colleges of Distinction guidebook and on the CollegesOfDistinction.com website, which provides the information to college-bound students, their parents and high school counselors without a subscription fee.
