ASU Computer Gaming Program in Nation’s Top 50

March 03, 2010

The computer game development program in Angelo State University’s Computer Science Department has been named one of the 2010 “Top 50 Undergraduate Game Design Programs” in the U.S. and Canada by thePrinceton Review. The ASU program was one of fifty chosen from more than 500 colleges in the U.S. and Canada.

“We are very excited that ASU is receiving national recognition for our efforts to pioneer a new program of study in game development for computer science students, ” said Dr. Tim Roden, head of the Computer Science Department. “ASU is one of only two Texas public universities that made the list. Combined with the fact that Texas has the third-largest number of computer game development companies in the U.S., we think ASU is positioned to become a leader in educating the next generation of computer game developers.”

“We couldn’t have done this without the ASU Information Technology Department,” said Dr. Roden. “We provide the courses and IT provides the computing resources. We are very lucky to be associated with one of the most progressive university IT departments in the state of Texas.”
