Fall 2014 Football Preview

Coach: Will Wagner (4th year, 15-18 at ASU)

Last Year: 5-6 (4-4, 5th in LSC)

Outlook: If the end of the 2013 season is any indication, 2014 could be a big year for the ASU Rams as they try to build on the momentum and excitement generated by ending last season on a three-game winning streak for the first time since 1987. The Rams will play 10 games this year, highlighted by five games on campus at the newly renovated LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.

Top Returners: The Rams return 12 starters on both sides of the ball, including several 2013 All-Lone Star Conference selections in junior quarterback Kyle Washington (Humble), senior linebacker Rush Seaver (Lampasas), junior punter Sam Fowler (Crosby), junior defensive end Clayton Callicutt (Crosby), junior defensive back Ryan Clapsaddle (The Woodlands) and senior running back Blake Smith (Burleson).

LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field:

The Rams will make history in 2014 when they play their first home football games on the Angelo State University campus. ASU previously played its home games at Bobcat Stadium in east San Angelo from 1939-56, and then moved to San Angelo Stadium for the last 57 years. The inaugural on-campus home game will be played on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. against Western State. A host of special activities are planned for the home opener, including the Alumni Association Ram Jam, free “white-out” T-shirts for students and the Fort Concho cannons, among others.
