Dr. Jason Hewitt was named the chief academic officer for secondary schools in the Bastrop Independent School District in May 2016. He finished out the 2015-16 school year as Bastrop HS principal.

Dr. Jason Hewitt has been installed as the new principal at Bastrop High School. He previously served as assistant superintendent of the Luling school district and also spent five years as a principal in the Smithville school district.
Hewitt earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at ASU in 1997 and his Master of Education in 2003. He also holds a doctorate from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor.
