Dr. Nicole Lozano

Dr. Lozano graduated with a PhD in Educational Psychology emphasizing Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She completed both her pre-doctoral internship and her post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Health and Counseling at Creighton University.

At the undergraduate level, Dr. Lozano primarily teaches General Psychology, but as also taught Social Psychology, Psychological Testing, and a General Studies class about Harry Potter.

At the graduate level, Dr. Lozano has taught: Trauma Counseling, Counseling Methods and Techniques, Psychological Assessment, Counseling Theories, Vocational Psychology, Group Therapy, and Applications of Psychopathology.

My research program is focused on gender using both mixed methods and strictly qualitative methods. Previous work has included examining socially supportive couples and previous sexual assault histories, body objectification research, and counseling efficacy protocols. Currently, my lab is working on projects about abortion stigma, creativity and parenting, and understanding sexual consent.

I really like working with students on their research ideas, particularly as they pertain to relationships and gender and/or qualitative research.
