Kathryn Perez was named the new dean of admissions and records at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, in January 2019.

Dr. Kathryn E. Perez, an assistant professor of biology at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, was credited in May 2017 with the discovery of a new species of the South Texas scrub snail genus Praticolella, which is found only on Padre Island and in coastal Cameron County.
