Interview with Dimas Contreras

Dimas Contreras has a family history with the military that reaches back to the Civil War. He lived in numerous locations including Germany because of his father’s time in the military as well as his own service before settling in Fort Stockton, Texas. Contreras was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War.

    Dimas Contreras was born into a military family. Contreras’ father and two of his brothers served in the Army, two of his other brothers served in the Air Force, and his uncles served in the Army and Navy. Contreras was drafted while attending college in 1969. He was deployed to Vietnam. After serving in Vietnam, he became a school teacher. He taught math for 39 years.
