Interview with William Fairbetter

In this interview, William Fairbetter recounts his time as part of the National Guard. He notes the training he went through, particularly how one detects mines with a bayonet and the types of weapons they were trained with. He also speaks about his transition back into a fully civilian life.

    William Fairbetter was born in Winters, Texas in 1936. His father, Milton Fairbetter, served in World War One. William joined the National Guard in 1955 and left the service in 1960.
