Welcome from the President

Dr. Brian J. May, President of Angelo State UniversityAs a graduate of Angelo State University, I am delighted to welcome you to our campus and website. You will find, as I did when I first attended ASU classes, a wonderful and caring community of scholars dedicated to your success, both in and out of the classroom. They helped me discover my potential, and as soon as I completed my bachelor’s degree, I stayed to earn my master’s degree. Back then I never even considered the possibility of becoming a college president, but ASU created opportunities that I never knew existed for me.  Angelo State will do the same for you.

The Angelo State experience begins with a quality education. The university has been recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the nation’s “Best Colleges” every year since 2010.  As a member of the Texas Tech University System, we offer 42 undergraduate degrees with more than 100 majors and concentrations, as well as opportunities for undergraduate research.  Many of our students continue their education pursuing one of our 21 master’s graduate degrees or our physical therapy doctorate, or attend leading professional schools across the nation.

An ASU education remains one of the most economical in the nation because we keep our costs within reach of the average family and because we manage a strong financial aid program, which includes the $130 million endowment for the Carr Academic Scholarship Program.

Beyond the classroom, you will find a vibrant residential campus with state-of-the-art facilities and modern residence halls.  You will enjoy numerous social and intramural opportunities, as well as more than 100 student clubs and organizations, plus outstanding NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.

So, enjoy your visit to Angelo State University, either in person or on the web, and let us know how we can assist you in your educational needs.  I am proof that from here, it’s possible!

Brian J. May
