About Student Research and Creative Endeavor
Student Research and Creative Endeavor includes activities undertaken by undergraduate and graduate students with significant faculty mentoring that gives students the opportunity to pursue advanced work in their major field of interest.
These are a few of the settings where experiments and research can be conducted:
- Laboratory
- Archives of a library
- Natural environment
- Art studio
Student Research and Creative Endeavor includes, but is not limited, this type of work:
- Scientific research
- Literature review of works such as scholarly journal articles on a given topic
- Interviews that help explore a social or political concern
- Fieldwork leading to a better understanding of a social or environmental situation
- Artistic creation
Opportunities vary across disciplines, but at a minimum, student research engages the student in critical inquiry and exposes the student to the foundations of research or creative activity in their chosen discipline.
Quality student research and creative activity result in a product that has potential for peer-reviewed dissemination in the form of:
- Presentations
- Publications
- Exhibitions
- Performances
