Career Counseling and Testing
In order to choose a major or career path, you must first know yourself — your Values, Interests, Personality, and Skills (VIPS). To achieve career satisfaction it is important to integrate all four into your future career.
If you are struggling with the career decision-making process, you might benefit from taking one or more of these free on-line assessments:
- Interests & Personality (CareerExplorer*)
- Interests (California Career Zone)
- Work Values (MyPlan.com)
- Personality (Humanmetrics)
- Interests (Texas Career Check)
- Skills (O*Net Skills Search)
*CareerExplorer will ONLY provide you with your highest 12 career matches free. Full access is available for a fee.
Need additional assistance? Career Development offers counseling and career assessments at no charge to all ASU students and alumni. The assessments administered are:
- Strong Interest Inventory
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
You are required to meet with a career counselor prior to taking either or both of these assessments. The assessment that you use will depend on your needs as well as suggestions from your career counselor. Contact Career Development at 325-942-2255 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a meeting.
