Angelo State University will welcome prospective students and their families to campus on Saturday, Feb. 17, for “Discover ASU,” a day-long program designed to acquaint potential enrollees with the university and its numerous educational opportunities.

Discover ASU allows prospective students to visit campus and see what Angelo State has to offer in academic programs, facilities and opportunities for intellectual and personal growth.

Activities will begin with check-in at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Houston Harte University Center on the ASU campus. The general welcome session will begin at 10 a.m. to be followed at 10:30 a.m. by guided tours of campus and a free lunch for students and their families at the university’s newly renovated Food Service Center.

Informational sessions on various topics are scheduled from 12:15-2 p.m. to cover financial aid, Carr academic scholarships, residence halls, student organizations and campus activities.

Special sessions are set for 1 p.m. on a variety of professional programs, including nursing, pre-health professions, pre-physical therapy, pre-law and education. Sessions on how to select a major and ASU’s Honors Program are scheduled at the same time as well as a tour of communication and journalism facilities and a studio performance by drama students.

Students and their families will also receive complimentary tickets to attend the ASU Rams’ baseball game against Central Oklahoma at 2 p.m. at Foster Field and the Rambelles’ and Rams’ basketball games against Eastern New Mexico at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively, in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
