Housing Application Information
Applications for all new students for the Fall 2018 Academic Year open October 1st, 2017.
All New Student Housing Application Fee = $100.00
All Application Fees are Non-Refundable. Students can apply for housing for the 2018-2019 Academic Year beginning October 1st, 2017 and we continue taking applications until the University closes course registration after the Fall semester begins.

Clarification on the Housing Policy Exemption Process
For purposes of the Housing Policy Exemption process, “full-time established residence” shall be defined as having proof of established full-time primary residence in San Angelo (or the approved 70-mile radius of the campus) for a minimum of one year prior to requesting exemption to the Housing policy. Exceptions for employment or military transfer will be considered with supporting documentation.
For students requesting exemption to the Housing Policy based on living with a sibling, in addition to meeting the requirements for full-time established residence, the sibling must meet at least ONE of the following exemption criteria:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Resided in University Housing for 2 or more long semesters (2 years, excluding summer terms)
Changes Related to Contract Cancellation Requests

Students who meet University requirements to live off campus will have until August 15 (or January 10 for Spring Cancellations) to request contract cancellation (in writing) without penalty. You may do so by emailing the housing office at firstname.lastname@example.org After August 15, students meeting the requirements to live off campus who request cancellation of their Housing Contract will have their request reviewed by an exemptions committee to determine if they will be released and may be subject to Liquidated Damages Charges. These charges must be paid prior to the first day of classes in order to secure contract release. This is the same process that has been in place for several years for students requesting mid-year (December) contract cancellation.
There are a couple of exceptions to the assessment of liquidated damage charges:
- Graduating or not enrolling at ASU.
- Getting married prior to the start of the applicable semester.
- Student teaching, study abroad or Internship that requires you to live in another town at a distance of greater than 70 miles from the campus.
Contract Cancellation vs. Housing Exemption
Contract cancellation is a separate and different process from the Housing Policy Exemption process. Housing Policy Exemption deals specifically with students who are required to live on campus under the provisions of the University‘s Housing Policy. Contract cancellation more typically applies to students who are not required to live on campus, but who are seeking to break their academic year Housing contract. The University assumes no liability for damage to or loss of personal property. As such, we strongly encourage students to carry some form of renters insurance so that in the event of theft, accident, vandalism, flood, or other incident, their personal property is protected. While we work closely with our maintenance staff to keep our facilities in appropriate working order, no system is without the possibility of problems. Additionally, while most of our students are well-behaved and respectful of the buildings and their peers, like any community of our size, we are not immune to incidents of vandalism or theft.
