Carr Academic Earn-In Scholarship
Renewal Requirements

The Scholarship Programs Office will review your progress at the end of each spring semester to determine if you qualify for continued eligibility of your Carr Academic Scholarship. You must meet all of the following standards and must remain in good standing (academic and disciplinary) with the university.

  1. Institutional Grade Point Average (GPA)
    • 3.0 institutional GPA at the end of each academic year
  2. Successful Completion of Semester Credit Hours (SCH)
    • Complete 30 SCH each academic year (fall/spring/summer)
    • The following are considered hours attempted, but not successfully completed and/or earned:
      • Grades of F or NC for undergraduates
      • Course withdrawals
      • Course incompletes
      • Developmental coursework
      • Repeated coursework
      • Dual credit
      • Transfer coursework
  1. Maximum Time Frame
    • The duration of the Carr Academic Earn-In Scholarship depends on how many semester credit hours students have completed at ASU when they are awarded the scholarship.
      • 30-59 overall ASU credit hours: Six consecutive semesters (fall/spring)
      • 60-89 overall ASU credit hours: Four consecutive semesters (fall/spring)
      • 90+ overall ASU credit hours: Two consecutive semesters (fall/spring)
        • Not to exceed semester count listed above or bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. 

Communications

End of the Fall Semester

The Scholarship Programs Office will email notices to Carr Academic Scholarship recipients that include:

  1. Current institutional GPA
  2. Hours earned at ASU for the fall semester
  3. Hours enrolled in for the spring semester
  4. Messages regarding progress towards renewing the Carr Academic Scholarship
  5. Messages regarding the maximum time frame of the Carr Academic Scholarship

End of the Spring Semester

The Scholarship Programs Office will send out notices to Carr Academic Scholarship recipients that include

  1. Current institutional GPA
  2. Hours earned at ASU for the fall semester
  3. Hours earned at ASU for the spring semester
  4. Messages regarding the renewal status of the Carr Academic Scholarship (renewed or canceled)
  5. Messages regarding the maximum time frame of the Carr Academic Scholarship

Reinstatement

Students who do not meet the renewal requirements by the end of the spring semester may reinstate their Carr Academic Scholarship by taking classes during the successive summer classes at Angelo State. Students who do not meet the renewal requirements by the end of the academic year (fall/spring/summer) will lose eligibility for their Carr Academic Scholarship. 

  • Summer classes must be taken at ASU — courses cannot be transferred from another school. 
  • Students taking summer classes at ASU must correct all deficiencies in order to reinstate eligibility for the next academic year.
  • Students have until the end of the summer term to reinstate eligibility before the fall semester begins. Students who do not meet the renewal requirements are no longer eligible for their Carr Academic Scholarship.
  • Students who withdraw may be required to reapply to the university. Students who have to reapply are no longer eligible for their Carr Academic Scholarship. 

Carr Academic Earn-In Scholarship One-Time Appeal

Students that do not meet the renewal requirements have the option to file an appeal. The appeal is only available once during the lifetime of the student’s scholarship. To request access to the appeal, please complete the Carr Academic Earn-In Scholarship Appeal Request Form.

The deadline to submit this One Time Appeal request form was September 15th, 2019.
