ASU Faculty and Staff are required to use Duo Security when logging into some software such as VPN. Duo Security is a two-factor authentication service that is secure and easy to use.
You must first set up your account to work with the service. You should have received an email from Duo Security when you were enrolled. Follow the link and instructions in the email to enroll a phone, tablet, or another device. Refer to the Duo Enrollment Guide for complete enrollment steps. If you do not have the email or have questions about enrollment in Duo Security contact the IT Service Center.
Once you have set up your account and installed and activated Duo Mobile on your mobile device, you will use it when logging in to services that require two-factor authentication.
When logging in to Duo-enabled services you will be asked for your username, password, and a second password. You have two choices for the second password.
- Open the Duo app on your device and tap the key to generate a six-digit passcode. Enter this passcode in the second password field of the service you are logging in to. Then log in as usual.
- Or enter the word “push” in the second password field and log in. The login process will wait while Duo sends a push notification to your mobile device asking you to approve the login. Tap Approve on your mobile device and the login process will complete.
For detailed information about using Duo Mobile for approving login requests refer to the following documents on the Duo website:
