Information for:

ACT Residual

What is the ACT Residual?

The ACT organization permits the administration of the ACT on this campus to students who: 1) have applied,  2) been admitted, or 3) are enrolled at Angelo State University, and are unable to test on a national test date. Scores from Residual testing are reported only to Angelo State University. No score reports from ACT will be sent to the student or high school. Residual score reports will not be issued to any other institution or agency.

The Residual ACT is not a “practice test” for a National ACT, and should not be used as such.  Individuals found to have taken a Residual ACT for any reason other than those described above will have their scores cancelled without refund.

By completing the online Residual ACT registration, you are also granting permission for the Angelo State University Testing Center to release your test results to the Angelo State University Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Accommodated testing is not available with ACT Residual testing.  Students requesting accommodations or EL support should complete an accommodations request for testing on a National ACT date

The ACT is a national college entrance examination. It assesses high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple-choice test covers four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading and science.

Retest Restrictions

Students may take the ACT no more than 12 times total (National and Residual combined).  If a student tested previously through Residual Testing, the retest should be taken on a regularly scheduled ACT Test Date.  A minimum of 60 days must elapse before repeat Residual Testing.  If the retest restrictions are violated, the retest scores will be cancelled automatically without refund.

The health and wellness of Angelo State University’s students, faculty and staff are top priority. In order to limit the spread of COVID-19 and safeguard the health and well-being of our campus community, the ASU Testing Center is closed for the remainder of the semester.  All examinations administered by the Testing Center are suspended until further notice.

If you have questions or concerns in regard to the affect this may have on your current admission application, please contact Angelo State’s Office of Admissions.  The Office of Admissions can be reached at 325-942-2041 or
