College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
What is the CLEP?
The CLEP is a range of tests that makes it possible for you to earn college credit by achieving qualifying scores on one or more exams. For a complete list of the 33 CLEP exams, go to http://clep.collegeboard.org/.
Registration for a CLEP exam should be done online at http://clep.collegeboard.org/register/exam/ Once registered for an exam, you will be provided with a Ticket ID which must be presented to the Testing Center during check-in on your schedule exam date/time.
The wait time before repeating a CLEP exam of the same title is three months. Scores of exams repeated earlier than three months will not be accepted (and test fees will be forfeited).
ASU students need to also have a Dean’s Approval Form for CLEP Examinations signed by the dean of their major academic college. The Dean’s Approval Form will be submitted to the Testing Center during check-in on your scheduled exam date/time.
The cost for each CLEP exam is $85 and is paid online at the time of registration. In addition, there is a $30 per exam administration fee which is paid in person to the Testing Center at the time of testing. The administration fee may be paid with cash (exact amount), check, money order or credit card and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
CLEP exams are given on specific dates throughout the academic year. Exams are proctored on the hour (10am, 11am, 12pm, etc.) during the window of time for testing on that day. Exams are 90 to 120 minutes, depending on the subject. When scheduling, keep this in mind, allowing plenty of time to complete the exam. To schedule a CLEP exam, complete and submit the form on the right.
The Testing Center is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. A scheduling form submitted after 5:00 pm will not be processed until the next business day. Complete and submit the scheduling form to the Testing Center at least 48 hours prior to the exam date. You are not officially scheduled to take an exam until you receive a confirmation email.
