College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
What is the CLEP?
The CLEP is a range of tests that makes it possible for you to earn college credit by achieving qualifying scores on one or more exams. For a complete list of the 33 CLEP exams, go to http://clep.collegeboard.org/.
Registration for a CLEP exam should be done online at http://clep.collegeboard.org/register/exam/ Once registered for an exam, you will be provided with a Ticket ID which must be presented to the Testing Center on the day of testing.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Be sure to wait at least six months before repeating a CLEP exam of the same title. Scores of exams repeated earlier than six months will not be accepted (and test fees will be forfeited).
The cost for each CLEP exam is $80 and is paid online at the time of registration. In addition, there is a $30 per exam administration fee which is paid in person to the Testing Center at the time of testing. The administration fee may be paid with cash (exact amount), check, money order or credit card and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
CLEP exams are given daily by appointment. The number of questions you will be given and time allotted to answer them varies based on the exam. Time spent on tutorials and providing personal information is in addition to the actual testing time. Pretest questions will not be scored. Take these factors into consideration when scheduling your exam. Be familiar with the amount of time allotted for your exam and schedule your testing time accordingly.
Use the form on this page to schedule a CLEP exam. Complete and submit the scheduling form at least 48 hours prior to the exam date. You are not officially scheduled for an exam until you receive a confirmation e-mail.
ASU students need to also have a Dean’s Approval Form for CLEP Examinations signed by the dean of their major academic college. The Dean’s Approval Form will be submitted to the Testing Center on the day of the test,
