DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests)

What is the DSST?

The DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST) is a range of tests that makes it possible to earn college credit by achieving qualifying scores on one or more exams.  The DSST Credit-by-Exam Program gives students the opportunity to get college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom. For a complete list of the DSST available, go to https://www.getcollegecredit.com/.

Goodfellow Air Force Base Testing

The Angelo State University Testing Center partners with Goodfellow Air Force Base to offer DANTES funded DSST computer-based testing to active duty military and their dependents, veterans and on-base civilian personnel.

Registration

Registration and payment for a DSST is completed on-line at the Testing Center within the testing platform on the day of the exam.

In order to register for and take a DSST, you must have an account. To create a DSST account, go to Log In To or Create My DSST Account. This should be done prior to arriving at the Testing Center for your scheduled appointment.

The wait time before repeating a DSST of the same title is 30 days.  Scores of exams repeated earlier than 30 days will not be accepted (and test fees will be forfeited).

ASU students need to also have a Dean’s Approval Form for DSST Examinations signed by the dean of their major academic college.  The Dean’s Approval Form will be submitted to the Testing Center during check-in on your scheduled exam date/time.

Cost

The cost for each DSST is $100 and is paid online by credit card at the time of testing.  In addition, there is a $30 Non-Refundable/Non-Transferable proctor fee which is paid online at the time of scheduling. DANTES eligible examinees do not pay the $30 proctor fee. You are not officially scheduled for an exam until payment is made and a confirmation email is received.

Schedule

DSST examinations are given on specific dates throughout the academic year. Exams are 120 minutes (two hours) in length. When scheduling, keep this in mind, allowing plenty of time to complete the exam. To schedule a DSST, click on the desired test date below and select a start time that falls within the window of time indicated.

Seating is limited. Once filled, the date will be removed from the schedule.

The Testing Center is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  A scheduling form submitted after 5:00 pm will not be processed until the next business day. Complete the scheduling form and submit payment at least 48 hours prior to the date and time you are requesting.

Examinations cannot be scheduled more than 30 days in advance. Schedule request dates that exceed 30 days will be deleted.

You are not officially scheduled to take an exam until payment is made and a confirmation email is received.
