What is the TSI Assessment?
The TSI Assessment is approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as the suite of tests that accurately and efficiently assesses reading, writing and mathematics to satisfy Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements.
The health and wellness of Angelo State University’s students, faculty and staff are top priority. In order to limit the spread of COVID-19 and safeguard the health and well-being of our campus community, the ASU Testing Center is temporarily closed.
All on-campus examinations administered by the Testing Center are suspended until further notice.
Students are encouraged to utilize the Virtual Remote Proctoring option for TSI testing during this time.
The TSI Assessment is given at the ASU Testing Center on specific dates throughout the academic year. Exams are scheduled on the hour (10am, 11am, 12pm, etc.) during the window of time for testing on that day. Examinees needing all three tests (Reading/Writing/Math) should allow a minimum of 5 hours for testing. Keep this in mind when scheduling your exam time.
For students who are local and wish to test on campus in the ASU Testing Center, use the registration form on this page to sign up for the TSI Assessment. Complete and submit the registration to the Testing Center at least 24 hours prior to the exam date and time. The Testing Center is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Registration forms submitted after 5 p.m. will not be processed until the next business day. You are not officially registered for an exam until you receive a confirmation email.
The State of Texas requires each person to complete a Pre-Assessment prior to initially taking the TSI Assessment. The Pre-Assessment can be taken at home. If taking the TSI Assessment for Angelo State University, visit the Pre-Assessment web site. Once completed, print the page and bring with you on test day.
The fee for TSI Assessment testing is $30 per section/test, and must be paid in person with cash (exact amount) or credit card at the time of testing. The testing fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
