Campus Vehicle Burglaries May 2009

Campus Crime Alert: Car Burglaries

The University Police Department is investigating seven (7) car burglaries reported in the last month. A majority of these burglaries were reported in residential parking lots. Police believe these crimes to be random crimes of opportunity.

The campus community is urged to keep values out of sight and make sure your vehicle is properly locked. Many of these burglaries occurred to vehicles which were not properly secured. In addition, individuals are reminded not to leave unattended property in the bed of trucks.

Many criminals use college campuses as shopping malls, please join us in making sure your vehicle is not an attractive target. Should you see any suspicious activity, please immediately contact the University Police at 942-2071.
